The spurtle is a Scottish stirrer, traditionally used for porridge.

This utensil, has been used in cooking, since the 1500 century. Spurtles can also be used for soup, broths and even custard. The rod shape is designed so the porridge can be stirred without forming lumps and congealing.

Traditional spurtles have a carved thistle at the top. Ed-Woods spurtles are made from locally sourced beechwood.

  • Average size 20cm long and under 25mm width.
  • Hand carved by Ed-Woods
  • Ed's studio is based in Lincolnshire. Wood is locally sourced from the local forestry and woodyards, which are managed to maintain an ecological balance. FSC certified sources.

All their waste is used in a local sustainable way, organic compost, firewood or for pets. This helps the environment making their business as low carbon, as possible.
